What is "mad" about March? There is the whole "in like a lion, out like a lamb" saying, but we have St. Patrick's Day AND Easter all in March 2024. Plus there is that little collegiate basketball brackets thing, and it is Women's History Month. At the end of this post we have listed some of the fun things we have going on in our Taste Lounge and around town honoring women-owned businesses.
In honor of all the early spring excitement, let us introduce to you our March 2024 - 1350 Distilling Cocktail of the Month: March Madness - Mint Mocha Martini. Here is a sweet cocktail perfect for all of the madness in March this year, combining mint, chocolate, coffee liqueur, and our Leatherneck Rye Whiskey for a delicious nod to the Irish, as well as, the Easter Bunny.
We are using a stemless martini glass with whiskey cube, but you could use a stemmed martini glass or tumbler. The key is to keep the chocolate milk cold without diluting it, so either a chilled glass or a whiskey cube is recommended.
MARCH MADNESS MINT MOCHA MARTINI RECIPE
In shaker add ice
• 0.5 oz mojito mix - (We use a Monin Mojito Mix, but this can be made with a half ounce of water, teaspoon of sugar and mint all muddled together)
• 0.5 oz simple syrup - (We use Pikes Peak Lemonade Co.'s mint simple syrup - another women-owned business here in Colorado Springs)
• 1 Oz Coffee Liqueur - (We make our own, but any coffee liqueur works. watch our video on how to make your own DIY Cinnamon Coffee Liqueur)
• 1 Oz Leatherneck Rye Whiskey
• 2 Oz Chocolate Milk
Shake and strain
Garnish: Spanked large mint leaf gives a great mint aroma and add some chocolate nibbles of your liking. We are using Whoppers Robin Eggs.
